In April of 2025, Amazon began rolling out the beta of a new AI assistant called “Buy For Me.” The feature provides a way for users to shop for and purchase products that may not be available on Amazon, all without leaving the Amazon app itself. Amazon poses this as a way to make users’ lives easier; while the user is provided a link to the product on the external brand or shop’s website, choosing the “Buy for Me” feature allows the AI to visit the website and make the purchase on the user’s behalf using the payment and shipping information already provided to Amazon.
The external shop meanwhile, is automatically scraped by the AI and opted in regardless of whether the shop owner would consent to this feature or not.
Despite this automatic inclusion, shop owners are also not being informed that their products are getting featured on Amazon.
As many artisans within the Artisans Cooperative would likely not want their product websites scraped by AI and/or have their products featured on Amazon, we want to share that there is a way to opt out of this feature.
Artisans will need to send an email to branddirect@amazon.com along with information similar to the following:

My name is [NAME]. I am the artist and owner of [SHOP NAME]. It has come to my attention that you are offering my products on your website without my consent. I want all of my products that you are offering through your “Shop other stores”/”Buy For Me” beta to be removed from your site and search results.
If you wish to discuss a future partnership with us, please let me know, but I do not want my products on your website without my consent.
