Artisans Cooperative on one hand is a business, a sellers’ marketplace for handmade goods. At the same time, on the other hand, Artisans Cooperative is a community. The core of this community is the cooperative membership — artisans and supporters who together own and organize the business.
Sellers participating in the marketplace don’t have to be members of the cooperative, but they’re invited to be. At the same time, members can share in the responsibilities and rewards of this business without being sellers.
In short, we’re building a business with democracy at its heart, a commons. You can join!
A Community Website
From the outset, Artisans Cooperative has had two websites, one serving as the marketplace and another, the one you’re visiting now, that has served simply as a blog.
Now this second site is evolving to better meet the needs of our whole community. It’s becoming a kind of digital-space hub, not a blog only.
Cooperative members will find with time that there’s more they can do here both to receive and to contribute. Already, some resources to be found on this site are exclusive to members. That will increase.
Members can keep an eye on news emails to stay up to date as the member-focused features of this site grow.
