Ready to share the good news about Artisans Cooperative but not sure what to say?

Use our ready-to-go templates and adjust as needed! Text that needs to be replaced with your unique information is in brackets – just like a Mad Lib.

1) How to Share with Online Groups – especially those with “No Self Promotions” Rules

2) Post On Your Own Social Profile

3) Ask Your Co-op to Share Us In Their Newsletter (P6!)

1) Online Group with “No Self Promotions” Rules

Online groups can be understandably sensitive to keeping posts relevant and on-topic. Many of us are shy about posting our announcements, but here’s one technique that worked for our members. For strict online groups, this can only be used once!

→ First, find a product on the marketplace that will be relevant and interesting for your group. For example, for with an alumni group with the school colors blue and gold, share a blue and gold necklace.

→ Then post in your group, sharing the relevant product for interest and explaining why a purchase does good, using our template:

I’m among a group of artisans who have started an ACTUALLY handmade ecommerce marketplace. We launched this week, and as I was going through the product listings, I saw these and thought of you: [link]

All products are verified handmade, so you won’t find mass-produced, vintage, or drop-shipped goods. Only authentically handmade goods. Already we have 78 shops and almost 1,200 products, and more being added every day. Shop https://artisans.coop/

_______________

It’s a co-op! So the Artisan Members and Supporter Members own it, meaning decisions are made democratically, and company profits go back into the hands of the artisans who make the products instead of into the pockets of outside investors and corporate staff. We’ve also lowered the barriers to company co-ownership in a few innovative ways. Learn more at https://artisans.coop/pages/about-us

Artisans Co-op treats sellers fairly: transparent, community-written policies, and a simple (lower than Etsy) sales commission with no listing fees. If you are interested in being a seller, right now the marketplace is in a fully-functional Beta, with only co-op Members as sellers so that we can work through all of our processes and scale. Our plan is to allow non-member sellers as soon as possible. Learn more about becoming a member of Artisans Cooperative at https://artisans.coop/pages/membership

I’m a member, so just let me know if you have any questions!

2) Post On Your Own Social Profile

Here’s a template of a social post that was shared by another member on their business profile page on Facebook – it really worked!

3) Ask Your Co-op to Share Us In Their Newsletter (P6!)

If you’re a member or a shopper at a co-op in your community, such as a food co-op, they’ll likely be receptive to including news about a fellow co-op – especially from a member! Principle 6 of our Cooperative Principles, co-ops help each other out, referred to as “P6.”

Here’s a pitch you can copy and make your own:

Subject: Solidarity post for co-op with mutual member?

Hi [NAME],
I’m a [frequent shopper and member at COOP] and am writing to ask for help. I’ve recently joined a new cooperative of artisans, crafters, and makers who are creating an online marketplace to buy / sell handmade products: like a “co-op alternative to Etsy.”

Our co-op needs help getting out the word and are asking for support from the cooperative community.

Our marketplace officially launched on October 2nd. (Press Release) Would you be willing to share the news with your members? This will be relevant to anyone buying or selling handmade goods.

Can you put up a flyer on your bulletin board and/or include a mention of us in your next newsletter / social media post?

Our flyers can be printed here: FLYERS FOLDER LINK

Here is sample newsletter text written for you below.

TITLE: NEW CO-OP ALTERNATIVE TO ETSY

We’re sharing this news with your members in solidarity with Principle 6: Cooperation Among Cooperatives.

Artisans Cooperative is now open for business! It’s a new, cooperatively-owned online marketplace that connects buyers with genuine artisans making “actually” handmade goods.

Artisans Co-op is a multi-stakeholder cooperative for both buyers and sellers. Buyers and sellers get a supportive community, voting rights, and financial rights. Artisans get no listing fees, promotional support, and more money in their pockets.

This holiday season, shop COOPERATIVE at https://artisans.coop to sustain true craft and a vibrant artisan community.

I’m a member of Artisans Cooperative, so just let me know if you have any questions!
In cooperation,
